How to adjust the width of your blog(in the new template designer)

Go to your design page.  Click on ‘template designer-new!’  Click on ‘Layout’ and ‘Adjust width’.  You can play around with the width of the entire blog and also the width of your sidebar.  Click ‘apply to blog’ in the upper right hand corner when you are finished.

  1. I used a template that I downloaded from here. Apparently by doing so, it negates the ability to adjust the widths using the Blogger template designer. Following these directions noted above only gives the message: “Not applicable for this template.”

    • Hey Michelle-if you want to edit the width of the columns when you are using one of our templates you will need to find this part of the code in the html:

      #new-sidebar-wrapper {
      width: 180px;
      float: left;
      word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
      overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
      }
      #main-wrapper {
      width: 530px;
      border-right: 0px dashed #E4C3C8;
      float: left;
      word-wrap: break-word; /* fix for long text breaking sidebar float in IE */
      overflow: hidden; /* fix for long non-text content breaking IE sidebar float */
      }
      #sidebar-wrapper {
      width: 180px;

      Play around with the numbers that are 180 (for your sidebars) and 530 (for your center column). Preview it once you make the changes to make sure you like it before you save it:) Hope this helps! —Becky
